Attica Group was distinguished for its commitment to initiatives that focus on environmental protection, the development of sustainable practices and innovative “green” technologies, with a total of 6 awards, at Environmental Awards 2024.
Environmental Awards 2024, rewarding best practices and initiatives for environmental protection and sustainability, honoured Attica Group with 1 Gold award for the use of technologies that reduce the environmental footprint; 2 Silver awards for initiatives related to recycling and waste prevention; and 3 Bronze awards for efforts related to effective water management, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and actions against climate change.
Specifically, Attica Group, which operates under the brands Blue Star Ferries, Superfast Ferries, Hellenic Seaways and ANEK Lines, received:
- A Gold award in the “Sustainable Maritime” category for the development and installation of modern ICT technologies & applications aimed at energy efficiency with a lower environmental footprint.
- A Silver award in the “Waste Recycle - Reuse” category for the Group's focus on the recycling and reuse of waste resulting from its production process.
- A Silver award in the “Waste Prevention” category for the management and prevention of waste generated by the production process.
- A Bronze award in the “Water Conservation” category for the Group's emphasis on the “water agenda”, based on UN's Sustainable Development Goal 6; the implementation of successful practices; the installation of modern technology to manage the water used during the production process / operation; and for the utilization of liquid waste.
- A Bronze award in the “Environmental CSR” category for the design and implementation of communication strategies as well as the assumption of major initiatives in the context of Corporate Social Responsibility, with a view to promoting the concept of sustainability in the wider society.
- A Bronze award in the “Climate Change” category for the design and implementation of actions aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change.
These awards confirm and reward Attica Group's commitment to adopt good environmental practices, adopting innovative, “green” approaches to maritime transport and across the Group’s operations for the benefit of passengers, Attica Group’s people and society at large.
